Armenia Calls on Russian Peacekeepers to Strictly Adhere to Ceasefire Regime
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia has issued a statement regarding the ongoing dissemination of false information by the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry about ceasefire violations in Nagorno-Karabakh, particularly in the area under the responsibility of Russian peacekeepers.
"It is noteworthy that the information materials published by the Russian peacekeepers indicate that ceasefire violations have only been recorded on the Azerbaijani side. Considering Azerbaijan's traditional practice of preparing for military actions by artificially attributing the responsibility for future actions to the other side before initiating such actions, there are serious concerns that the Azerbaijani military-political leadership is preparing the ground for another aggressive operation and ethnic cleansing in Nagorno-Karabakh, in defiance of all its commitments," the statement reads.
"We call on the Russian peacekeeping forces to strictly monitor the adherence to the ceasefire regime and to investigate all allegations made by Azerbaijan, publicly presenting the full situation on the ground. At the same time, the Republic of Armenia reaffirms its position on the necessity of deploying an international fact-finding mission to Nagorno-Karabakh, which could provide reliable and impartial information regarding the situation along the line of contact between the parties, as well as regarding the humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh caused by Azerbaijan's illegal actions, including the installation of checkpoints violating the order established by the November 9 declaration of 2020, the blockade of natural gas and electricity supplies to Nagorno-Karabakh, and the targeting of citizens engaged in agricultural work by Azerbaijani military personnel," the statement also said.
The Republic of Armenia is confident that addressing the rights and security issues of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh through international mechanisms in the context of Baku-Stepanakert dialogue is urgent and imperative, and calls on the international community to support this process.
