Law Enforcement Has Not Returned Garik Galeyan's Car, Father of Fallen Soldier

Nearly a month after the incident involving Ashot Pashinyan and parents of fallen soldiers from the 44-day war on May 16, law enforcement has yet to return the car of Garik Galeyan, father of fallen soldier Mkhitar Galeyan. Galeyan believes this is another way to exert pressure on them.

“We all know we live in a country where they try to create an atmosphere of fear by instigating criminal cases left and right, but I know I have not hit anyone with my car. To be honest, I still haven’t gotten my car back; they say some examination is underway. Neither I nor the people who were in the car have been called to give statements, no notification has come, and I don’t even know what’s happening,” he told NEWS.am.

According to Galeyan, all actions of law enforcement are illegal. “Are they examining the car for almost a month? Do they want to cut me off from my means of transportation so that I can't go to Yerablur? Well, now that I don’t have my car, I will go with another one,” he said.

Galeyan stated that none of this will change his position; he continues to blame the current authorities for the high number of casualties in the war. “If a person claims that we could have had the same outcome without that many casualties, and after that nothing changes, how can we change our stance? As for the casualties, that person is not being summoned for questioning, but instead, criminal cases are being opened against the parents of heroes,” he added.

It is noted that there is a separate part of the case related to Ashot Pashinyan that is still ongoing in the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia. This separated part pertains to the actions of other parents of soldiers, particularly Astghik and Garik Galeyan, Vahid Sahakyan, and others, on the day of May 17, when Ashot Pashinyan was allegedly abducted.
