Commanding Officer of Military Unit in Tavush and Associates Assault Patrol Officers
An extraordinary incident occurred in Tavush on June 11. According to Shamshyan.com, around 7:30 PM, patrol officers from the Tavush division of the RA Police were conducting their duties when they stopped a Mercedes vehicle on Mashtots street in Berd city for inspection.
The patrol officers discovered that the vehicle was being driven by a child, 13-year-old Vrej Kh. When the officers attempted to have the vehicle taken to the protected area of the Berd police department, a passenger, 20-year-old Vardan P., tried to persuade the officers to overlook the situation and not take the vehicle to the impound lot. He also claimed that the car did not belong to him but to a public official.
Nevertheless, the patrol officers urged Vardan P. not to obstruct their work and proceeded to transport the vehicle to the Berd police station.
Upon reaching the vicinity of the 'Utik' restaurant complex, they momentarily stopped, during which a group of individuals exited the restaurant, including military personnel. Among them was 38-year-old Mihran Kh., who approached the patrol officers and demanded that they turn off their cameras. After being refused by the officers, he began to shout offensive language. At that moment, two other individuals, one of whom was Mihran Kh.'s cousin, 23-year-old Gagik P., attacked the patrol officers and struck one of them with their hands.
The patrol officers were compelled to use special means, including pepper spray and handcuffs. Ultimately, they successfully managed to take the three individuals to the Tavush police department, from where they were eventually presented to the 6th garrison investigative department of the Military Investigative Committee of Armenia. Mihran Kh. serves as the commanding officer of Military Unit N of the Ministry of Defense of the RA. The mentioned individuals have been arrested.
