EU Countries Fight Against Russia While Pretending Not to Be Involved, Volodin Claims

European Union countries are fighting against Russia while pretending to have no connection to it, said Vyacheslav Volodin, the Speaker of the Russian State Duma, according to RIA Novosti.

“The EU countries are fighting against our country. Their military equipment and weapons, once in the hands of the Kiev regime's insurgents, are being used for terrorist attacks within Russian territory and assaults on peaceful civilian populations. Yet, at the same time, the leaders of European states pretend they have nothing to do with it, as if Zelensky and his subordinates are using the weapons without their knowledge,” Volodin wrote on his Telegram channel.

Volodin pointed out that instead of condemning these bloody crimes, European leaders prefer to discuss sanctions against Russia. “This is nothing but double standards. European bureaucrats have used them in the past and are still using them against our country,” he emphasized.

According to Volodin, it is the European states and their citizens who suffer first from the sanctions. “Last year, a record inflation was recorded throughout the existence of the EU, and now the Eurozone has officially entered into recession, with GDP continuously declining for the second quarter,” he added.

The State Duma speaker clarified that sanctions have ceased to be an effective tool for restraining the development of the Russian Federation, asserting that the country will overcome any challenge and threat and will only become stronger.

“Today another question has become relevant: how many more sanction packages remain until the collapse of the European Union?” he concluded.

Russia had previously sent a note of protest to NATO countries for supplying military supplies to Ukraine. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that any cargo containing military supplies intended for Ukraine would become a legitimate target for Russia. The Russian Foreign Ministry announced that NATO countries, by supplying military equipment to Ukraine, are playing with fire. Dmitry Peskov, the spokesperson for the Russian president, emphasized that Western supply of weapons to Ukraine does not contribute to the success of Russian-Ukrainian negotiations and has a negative impact.
