Control of Transport Communications Between Azerbaijan and Armenia to Be Implemented by Russia’s FSB - Shahin Mustafaev
According to the trilateral statement of November 9-10, 2020, the control will be carried out by the border service of the Federal Security Service of Russia (FSB) to ensure the unhindered movement of citizens, vehicles, and cargo.
This was stated by Azerbaijan's Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafaev in an interview with the "Moscow-Baku" website, responding to a question about whether Russia will oversee the transport communications between the western regions of the Republic of Azerbaijan and its Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
"Negotiations are ongoing based on the 9th point of the joint statement of November 9-10, 2020, with the aim of implementing its provisions as quickly as possible. The tasks are quite straightforward: it is planned to restore existing and construct new transport communications connecting the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic with the western regions of Azerbaijan. Both passenger transportations and cargo transports will be ensured," he said.
Mustafaev added that discussions are currently underway to coordinate the technical details.
