«Important is the development of ecologically clean nuclear energy for peaceful purposes»: Pashinyan

The Armenian side reaffirms its unwavering constructive intention to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas of mutual interest within the framework of the implementation of Kyrgyzstan's presidency priorities this year. This was stated today by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during the regular meeting of the Council of Heads of Governments of the CIS.

He spoke about the critical issues facing the CIS countries, particularly the need to activate industrial cooperative ties between economic entities, the formation of scientific-production zones, and more.

“The creation of intense new branches of knowledge and the modernization of high-tech industrial potential are fundamental factors for achieving sustainable and innovative economic development, as well as necessary conditions for enhancing the competitiveness of our economies,” said Pashinyan.

The Prime Minister also addressed the increasingly acute environmental issues against the backdrop of rapid scientific and technological advancement. According to him, the demand for effective mechanisms to reduce risks to the environment is growing.

“Therefore, the development of ecologically clean nuclear energy for peaceful purposes is of significant importance for ensuring sustainable development and reducing the negative impact on the environment,” emphasized Pashinyan.

He highlighted that the Armenian side supports the signing of an agreement on cooperation in the field of data exchange for the purpose of monitoring radiation conditions. This aims to develop optimized approaches to using nuclear technologies for non-energy purposes, particularly in science, medicine, and agriculture.

It should be noted that the regular meeting of the Council of Heads of Governments of the CIS is taking place in Sochi.
