VIDEO: Many Parents Heard How a CP Official Called the Parents of the Fallen 'Maggots'

At the general jurisdiction court in Ejmiatsin, Armavir Province, a hearing is underway regarding the case of Serob Sargsyan, the deputy head of the Ajapnyak administrative district in Yerevan, who refered to the parents of missing soldiers as "maggots." The case has also involved journalist Lia Sargsyan.

As Lia Sargsyan stated in a conversation with reporters, the core of the court hearing revolves around an incident that occurred on April 30 of last year on Nalbandyan Street in Yerevan between the parents of missing soldiers from the Tsori military unit and Serob Sargsyan. On the evening of the incident, journalist Lia Sargsyan posted a photo from the site on her Facebook page, writing: "The employee of this shop on Nalbandyan Street called the parents of the fallen soldiers 'maggots' while laughing with friends upon seeing their procession. If you consider yourself a moral person, never enter this shop." She later edited the post to clarify the identity of the person who insulted the parents of the fallen soldiers.

"The person who referred to the parents as 'maggots' is the deputy head of the Ajapnyak administrative district, Serob Sargsyan. Please. Thousands of boys have died for this story, and this story lives beside you. By the way, I have been informed that this person supposedly has no connection with the shop, simply out of fear entered the shop, locked the door from the inside, and announced: 'It's a private space, get out.' (Edited) I was just informed that the shop is actually his," she wrote.

Serob Sargsyan has filed a lawsuit for defamation and insult. During the court hearing, parents of the missing soldiers from the 44-day war in the Tsori military unit will be present as witnesses.

In a conversation with reporters, Anahit Manasyan, who is the aunt of fallen soldier Hayk Melikyan, stated: "If you remember, following Nikol Pashinyan's statement from the parliamentary podium on April 13, 2022, we filed a report in the Prosecutor's Office regarding the crime on April 18 and called on the parents of all fallen soldiers to join our protests. On the day of our next protest on April 30… one person gestured and said, 'Look at these maggots.'"
