Zahharova Discusses Irreplaceable Roadmap for Yerevan and Baku

We assess the set of trilateral statements as an irreplaceable roadmap for the reconciliation of two fraternal peoples by Russia. This was stated by Maria Zakharova, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, during a briefing addressing the resolution of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations.

According to Zakharova, this process has its own dynamics, formats, and additional tools. She remarked, "Regarding the actions of the USA and the European Union, a question arises: what accounts for their sudden increased activity on the Armenian-Azerbaijani resolution issue? Previously, no one from the EU paid particular attention to the South Caucasus problem. It seems that the situation has changed.”

Zakharova noted that history has shown that externally imposed so-called “peace” formulas, which are recommended or inserted in an expedited manner, have led to no positive outcomes. “One must know the history of the region, understand the history of the conflict, and the history of the peoples involved. All of this must be known and deeply felt. Most importantly, one should be disposed to real peaceful settlement. Another equally important thing is to avoid having a 'second floor' in one’s actions and to be sincere in the desire to reach this goal,” she emphasized.

It should be noted that the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, also referred to the statements made by the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, Armen Grigoryan, in today’s briefing.
