We are hopeful that Azerbaijan will agree to allow the EU mission to operate on its side as well, Roth
Thank you to the Armenian government for inviting the EU mission to conduct its monitoring in Armenia. This was stated today, June 7, at a press conference in Yerevan by Michael Roth, the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Bundestag.
“We are pleased to note that the EU mission will soon expand its mandate. We are hopeful that Azerbaijan will agree to such a mission also operate on its side,” he emphasized.
In response to a question about whether negotiations are ongoing with Azerbaijan in this regard, Roth replied: “We have not received any optimistic signals from the Azerbaijani side in this regard, although we believe that the issue of peace and stability is not only Armenia's problem. Azerbaijan should also participate in ensuring general regional security, peace, and stability. This is a proposal we are putting forward to the parties, and we await their response.”
