Video: Mass Fish Die-Off Recorded as Water Levels Peak in Alyoshki
In Alyoshki (Kherson region), the peak of water rise is expected in the coming hours, after which a rapid decline will begin, announced Andrey Alekseenko, head of the Kherson regional government, on June 7.
“We are sending special equipment and watercraft here to evacuate people. Buses will continue to transport residents to temporary accommodation centers in Skadovsk, Henichesk, and other areas,” Alekseenko wrote on his official Telegram channel.
In Nova Kakhovka, the water level dropped by one meter on Tuesday evening, reported the head of the city administration. Meanwhile, in Dnipropretrovsk region, a massive die-off of fish has been recorded due to the contamination of the river following an explosion at the Kakhovka hydroelectric plant.
