By Allowing People to Cross the Azerbaijani Checkpoint, Artsakh Authorities Legitimizing Its Operation: Metakse Hakobyan

Allowing people to cross the Azerbaijani checkpoint at the Hakari Bridge legitimizes the operation of that bridge by the Artsakh authorities. This was stated by Metakse Hakobyan, the secretary of the Justice faction in the Artsakh National Assembly, in an interview with NEWS.am.

“Over the past months, we have experienced many cold and hungry days, and even the road was closed for Russian peacekeepers. However, we were prepared to endure hardships, so as not to use a road that Azerbaijan has unlawfully closed. This is the first phase of integration that has begun in Artsakh, as you present your passport to the Azerbaijani side and receive permission. We have information that there are citizens whose return has been denied. It turns out that Azerbaijan decides who can go out and who can enter Artsakh, while the authorities of Artsakh have no decisive role in this matter. In this case, using that road means agreeing to the rules of the game set by Azerbaijan,” emphasized the Artsakh legislator.
