Someone Has Come and is Destroying Our Millennia-Old History: Vazgen Manukyan

“What is happening to us now is a deeply organized conspiracy aimed at our people. In organizing this conspiracy, they have exploited our people's natural desire to live in a just country and peaceful conditions,” stated former Prime Minister Vazgen Manukyan in a statement.

“In fact, the so-called ‘peace agreement’ that numerous external forces are clamoring for will be the most devastating blow to our people. Regarding enclaves: the existence of enclaves was not enshrined in any law of the Soviet Union. They were given to Azerbaijan with the agreement of local authorities at that time, therefore they have no legal force, which means our territories are also de jure. If enclaves are transferred to Azerbaijan, that means giving the adversary the best opportunities and creating an allure to continue the war from within the territory of Armenia. This agreement will not be a peace agreement but rather a contract for war.

Regarding Artsakh, it is not only absurd to think that ‘if we liberate Artsakh, we will live peacefully,’ but the issue also has a moral side. Show me a case in world history where any people leave a part of its hundred-thousand-strong population as hostages (knowing they will be slaughtered and displaced) hoping to live well. Our people will not live well, and this stigma will not be erased from our backs for millennia. We will not respect ourselves, and the next generations will spit on our faces. We are making ourselves miserable and humiliating ourselves and our successors by taking an immoral step and committing national treason in exchange for war and no peace,” wrote Vazgen Manukyan.

He noted that the fact that Armenia, regardless of territorial integrity, does not declare the recognition of the right of the people of Artsakh to self-determination and independence and does not promote the realization of that right by all political means already humbles us before many nations of the world. Manukyan also posed the question: “How can one live like this?”

“In fact, someone has come and is destroying our millennia-old history, a part of the people does not understand this, hoping that in the end everything will be fine, while another part of the people is making efforts to change all this but cannot. In such a situation, the military and law enforcement agencies have a very important role, whose main purpose is to defend the state. I specifically appeal to our law enforcement agencies: you have not sworn to protect Nikol Pashinyan; you have sworn to protect the Homeland, the state, the Constitution, and state laws. What Nikol Pashinyan is doing and wants to do contradicts primarily our Constitution and laws; therefore, Nikol Pashinyan is no longer legitimate. By his statements, his actions, and later also by his signature, he becomes a state criminal, and by protecting a state criminal, you violate your oath, which is also a state crime,” wrote the former Prime Minister.

Vazgen Manukyan has called on law enforcement agencies to closely monitor what is happening in our country and to timely prevent state criminal activities, being ready to join the large part of the people that opposes the perpetration of national and state crimes and tries to avert national catastrophe and disgrace.
