Kryvyi Rih Residents Panic Buy Water from Stores
Residents of Kryvyi Rih (Кривой Рог, a city in Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk region) are in a state of panic, purchasing large quantities of drinking water from stores due to issues with the water supply.
The city’s mayor, Oleksandr Vilkul, has reported that some of the city’s water supply pumps have gone out of service, prompting residents to start buying water in a frenzy.
Problems with water supply began following the collapse of the Kakhovskaya Hydroelectric Power Plant, which has caused a decrease in water levels in the upper stretch of the Dnipro River. It should be noted that mutual accusations have been leveled concerning the blast at the hydroelectric plant.
As a reminder, on June 6, the dam of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant located in the Kherson region collapsed. The waters from the destroyed plant have flooded nearby settlements in the Kherson area. Due to the damage to the HPP, the water level in the Dnipro River has risen. Footage reportedly from the Ostriv district of Kherson shows ducks swimming down the streets.
