Zlatan Ibrahimović Announces Retirement from Football
Swedish footballer Zlatan Ibrahimović has announced his retirement from professional football. He made the statement after the final round of the Italian league match between AC Milan and Verona (3-1).
"I am saying goodbye to football, but not to you," he stated. "Right now, I have too many emotions. Forward, AC Milan, and goodbye."
Ibrahimović has been playing for AC Milan since 2020. The Italian club previously announced in June that they would part ways with the forward. This season, he had a limited playing time due to an injury and recovery from knee surgery.
The 41-year-old Ibrahimović is a champion in Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and France. He has played for Swedish club Malmö, Dutch club Ajax, Italian clubs Juventus, Inter, and Milan, Spanish club Barcelona, French club PSG, English club Manchester United, and the American club LA Galaxy. He has scored 62 goals for the Swedish national team and is the team's all-time leading scorer.
