Lukaku Told to 'Get Out to the Jungle' Following Inter's Loss to Manchester City
Belgian footballer Romelu Lukaku of Milan's Inter has faced racial abuse on social media following the Champions League final. This was reported by Metro.
On June 10, Inter lost to English side Manchester City in the decisive match of the Champions League. In the 71st minute, Inter player Federico Dimarco had a chance to equalize, but the ball hit Lukaku's foot. Towards the end of the match, the Belgian was unable to head the ball into the net.
After the game, fans left a wave of racist comments under Lukaku's latest social media post. The 30-year-old striker was referred to as a 'black monkey,' with calls for him to 'get out to the jungle,' and was bombarded with monkey and gorilla emojis, images, and videos.
This season, Lukaku has played 37 matches for Inter across all competitions, scoring 14 goals and providing 7 assists. Inter finished third in Serie A at the end of the 2022/23 season.
