Azerbaijan's Ombudsman Visits Imprisoned Armenian Soldiers
The Ombudsman of Azerbaijan has visited two Armenian soldiers, Harutyun Hovakimyan and Karen Ghazaryan, who were captured and detained by Azerbaijan. A criminal case has been initiated against them on charges of terrorism. According to APA, the Ombudsman, Aliyeva, examined the conditions of the Armenian soldiers' detention. The Azerbaijani side claims that the Armenian servicemen did not have any complaints regarding their detention conditions.
It was noted that they have been provided with medical and psychological assistance.
Recall that the Armenian Ministry of Defense announced on May 26 about the disappearance of two soldiers at the border. It later became known that an armed group of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces had entered Armenian territory and abducted servicemen Harutyun Hovakimyan and Karen Ghazaryan. In turn, the Armenian Foreign Ministry appealed to the leadership of Azerbaijan, calling for the release and return of the abducted soldiers. On May 27, a court in Azerbaijan ordered the detention of the Armenian servicemen.
