Ashot Pashinyan: I've Been Called Regarding Withdrawal of Complaint
The accused in the alleged kidnapping case of Ashot Pashinyan, the mother of the fallen soldier in the 44-day war, Zhora Martirosyan, Gayane Martirosyan, will appeal the decision of the Court of Appeal to replace Martirosyan's imprisonment with house arrest. This was announced today, June 5, during a court session by the prosecuting attorney in the case.
"The decision of the Court of Appeal is neither legal nor justified, which is why a cassation appeal will be submitted. There are grounds for detention due to the possibility of committing a new crime. Only detention can ensure the proper behavior of the accused at this stage," stated the prosecutor.
During Martirosyan's time in custody, one of the parents of the fallen soldiers, Vigen Azatyan, called Ashot Pashinyan and urged him to declare through the media, quoting, "You have nothing to do with them, let our words correspond." Additionally, Ashot Pashinyan was informed that if he was not successfully transferred to "Yerablur" this time, he would be taken next time," added the prosecutor.
Ashot Pashinyan refrained from stating his position regarding the measure of restraint for Martirosyan, noting that it is the lawyers' responsibility. "I confirm that I was called by Vigen Azatyan, who was in the courthouse that day with Gayane Martirosyan. I confirm that there were attempts to withdraw my application," said Ashot Pashinyan.
It is noteworthy that earlier in court, Ashot Pashinyan mentioned that he lives on Garegin Nzhdeh Street and is currently unemployed.
