The Time of Erdogan's Inauguration Ceremony is Announced
The inauguration ceremony of Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will kick off at 18:00 Yerevan time at the presidential palace in Ankara. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is also traveling to Ankara at the invitation of the Turkish side. This marks the first time that Armenia participates at the level of head of state.
In the history of independent Armenia, the country has only participated once before in the inauguration of a Turkish president, nine years ago on August 28, 2014, at the level of the foreign minister.
Azerbaijan's president will also attend Erdogan's inauguration ceremony; however, there has been no report on a possible meeting between Pashinyan and Aliyev. Pashinyan and Erdogan first met on October 6, 2022, in Prague. The two leaders were in the Czech Republic to participate in the first summit of the European Political Community.
Today, leaders from around twenty countries are heading to Ankara, and the Secretary General of NATO will also participate in the inauguration ceremony. Russia will be represented by the Chairman of the State Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin, while Washington will be represented at the level of the U.S. ambassador to Turkey.
