No One Should Even Think That the Issue Can Be Swept Under the Rug: The CPP MP on the Incident Involving the Head of Dilijan Criminal Investigation
Armenian National Assembly member and member of the Standing Committee on Defense and Security of the ruling Civil Contract party, Vilen Gabrielian, has addressed the incident of violence involving the head of the Dilijan criminal investigation department on his Facebook page.
“Hello, I am writing this specifically one day late so that it cannot be said that it is driven by emotions. I am addressing the entire law enforcement system—internal affairs, prosecutor's office, various investigative bodies, the National Security Service, and others. In general, I have not raised my voice for a long time regarding various issues and incidents, and not only concerning the incident mentioned below, but that does not mean I do not understand what is happening, what you are doing, and why. It does not mean that I am willing to discuss the issues solely through internal procedures and institutional channels,” he said.
“Especially if mostly they are being issued in some ‘intelligent’ false packaging. To the so-called ‘experienced and knowledgeable’ specialists in the systems, either shape up or the discussions will be very direct, substantiated, and must be publicized. I assure you that no one will find it pleasant. If you think that you can present the truth you desire to your superiors through your various colorful reports, this does not mean that it has passed and has been digested, and that we do not possess the real truth that we will convey to your superiors. If you think that you are dealing with mere ‘button pushers,’ then you are sorely mistaken, because personally, I am just very patient, but that patience has its limits,” he highlighted.
“The purpose of my writing is the following: Regarding the disgraceful act of violence committed by the head of the Dilijan criminal investigation (by the way, it makes no difference that the victim is a minor), no one should think they can brush this under the carpet. This is point one. Secondly, there is no option for regret (otherwise, it will look like I can beat your disgraced colleague with my mandate, and I can, I just won’t allow myself to do so, and then regret it while you understand me),” Gabrielian emphasized.
“Moreover, this is not only a matter of dismissal but specifically of stripping rank, given that such incidents are not just condemnable, but simply unacceptable because this is a shame upon the system. If you are just approaching this situation with understanding, it means you are approaching it with the understanding that anyone among you can act similarly. No one should even think that the issue can be swept under the rug. The public emotions may settle down, and then after six months, that individual will find themselves in a warm position somewhere within the system!”
“In this matter, I have urged my colleagues on the Standing Committee on Defense and Security of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia to be consistent and we will be. That’s all for now. Be vigilant, level-headed, balanced, strong, and resilient,” he concluded.
