Sevilla Claims Europa League Trophy for the 7th Time

On May 31, in the final of the UEFA Europa League held at Budapest's Puskás Aréna, Sevilla faced Roma. The match concluded with Sevilla emerging victorious, as reported by armsport.am.

Although Sevilla had certain territorial advantages in the first half, after the referee's whistle signaling the end of the half, José Mourinho's team temporarily led 1-0.

The opening goal of the match was scored by Italian club's forward Paulo Dybala, who found the net in the 35th minute following a pass from Gianluca Mancini. After the goal, the Andalusians intensified their efforts, with Rakitić coming close to equalizing, but Patricio was saved by the crossbar, leaving the score unchanged.

Ten minutes into the second half, in the 55th minute, Italian club defender Gianluca Mancini turned the ball into his own net following a cross from the right flank, thus conceding an own goal. Another ten minutes later, the Romans nearly regained their lead, but the chaos in Bunu's penalty area went uncapitalized by the Italian players.

The regulations time ended with a 1-1 tie. This was the third final where Sevilla participated in the Europa League/UEFA Cup that required extra time. Overall, it marked the 10th final in the history of the Europa League that did not conclude in the main time.

However, the winner was not determined during extra time as well, and the teams settled the championship through a penalty shootout, where Mendilibar's side proved to be more successful (4-1).

Thus, Sevilla became the champion of this tournament for the 7th time in its history.
