Greco-Roman Wrestlers Win 3 Gold, 4 Silver, and 9 Bronze Medals at International Memorial Tournament
Yesterday, on May 31, the memorial tournament named after the double world and European champion, winner of the 'Goodwill' Games, Greco-Roman wrestler Benur Pashayan concluded at the Dynamo Sports Hall in Yerevan. The results of the tournament will form the basis for the selection of the Armenian national team for the World Championship.
Armenian Greco-Roman wrestlers secured 3 gold, 4 silver, and 9 bronze medals. The winners of the memorial tournament dedicated to Benur Pashayan are Slavic Galstyan in the 67 kg weight category, Shant Khachatryan in the 72 kg weight category, and Maxim Manukyan in the 82 kg weight category.
The runners-up of the tournament include Robert Karapetyan (55 kg), Hayk Melikyan (67 kg), Ararat Varderesyan (72 kg), and Ashot Kirakosyan (77 kg). Bronze medalists are Rudik Mkrtchyan (55 kg), Gevorg Gharibyan (60 kg), Karen Aslanyan (67 kg), Seryozha Bernezyan (72 kg), Karen Khachatryan and Samvel Grigoryan (both in 82 kg), Gevorg Tadevosyan (87 kg), Hani Khloyan (97 kg), and Albert Vardanyan (130 kg).
