Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Discusses Tinted Windows of Government Employees' Vehicles

The requirement to remove window tinting on vehicles applies to everyone. If my colleagues haven't removed them yet, I believe they will do so in the near future,” stated Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan in a conversation with reporters, responding to remarks that some officials, including government members, are still driving vehicles with tinted windows.

Sargsyan addressed the question of which law imposes such a requirement and penalties. She explained that the penalty points relate to the relevant provisions of the Administrative Offenses Code, which stipulate administrative liability for failing to comply with the standard of window transparency. This standard is defined in an EAEU act that the Armenian government has joined.

In response to the question of whether drivers must replace the windows if they cannot remove the tint according to the law or in cases where vehicles have factory-tinted windows, Sargsyan emphasized that a standard is indeed established. She also added that the tinting films have been removed from her vehicle, as well as those of the Minister of Internal Affairs, all deputy ministers, and other officials, highlighting that this applies not only to official vehicles but also to personal ones.
