Ukraine Assures US It Will Not Use American Weapons Against Russia, Kirby Says

U.S. State Department spokesperson John Kirby reiterated that the White House does not support Ukrainian military strikes on Russian territory. He made these comments during an interview with CNN.

According to him, the Ukrainian side has assured the United States that it will not use weapons obtained from it for such strikes.

"We intend to continue providing what they need for self-defense and to defend their territory—Ukrainian land—while we do not support attacks on Russian territory," he said.

He stated that the U.S. agrees that Ukrainians have the right to self-defense and that it has done nothing else except assist Ukraine in recent months.

"We have said that we do not wish to encourage or contribute to attacks inside Russia, as we do not want the war to escalate into greater violence than what the Ukrainian people have already faced," the State Department spokesperson remarked.
