Alleged Abduction of Armenian Soldiers Took Place 2-3 km Northeast of Shikahogh: 'Hetq'
The alleged abduction of Armenian soldiers by Azerbaijan occurred in the southeastern direction of the Armenia-Azerbaijan front lines near Shikahogh, according to three sources cited by 'Hetq'. More specifically, as one source noted, the incident was reported to have happened between the villages of Chakat and Shikahogh, not far from Kranasikhut Mountain.
Some positions of the opposing forces in the Chakat-Shikahogh area are located in forested areas, providing a good opportunity for concealment during diversionary penetrations.
Community leader G. Parsyan confirmed in a conversation with 'Hetq' that the incident was recorded within the territory of the enlarged community of Kapan but declined to provide specific details regarding the location. However, Armenian media have circulated the name of Shikahogh village, which is part of Kapan. For instance, 'Azatutyun' radio reported that the incident occurred a few kilometers away from this village.
Samvel Aghabekyan, a resident of Shikahogh, told the media that there are higher-placed Armenian positions in that area and suggested that Azerbaijanis managed to ambush in the dense forest, stating, 'It's a dense forest, and the road goes through the woods.'
It is worth noting that the territories of Chakat, Shikahogh, Srashen, Nerk’in Hand, and Tsav villages are surrounded by the forests of the 'Shikahogh' state reserve.
