Russia Imposes Temporary Ban on Exporting Ammunition and Cartridges

Russia has imposed a temporary ban on the export of cartridges and ammunition intended for civilian and service firearms. This is reported by Vedomosti, citing the Russian government's website.

The document was signed on May 27 and came into effect today, May 31. The ban will remain in place until December 31, 2023.

Exempt from the ban are ammunition and cartridges intended to support the activities of the Russian Armed Forces, other troops, and military formations. The measures are aimed at ensuring the "protection of state interests."

The press service of the cabinet of ministers clarified that this regulation has been prepared as part of a series of measures to support citizens and businesses under sanctions, as per the decree by Russian President Vladimir Putin. This decree was signed on March 8, 2022.
