Prime Minister Pashinyan Expresses Joy Over Existence of Muslim Mosques in Armenia
There has been criticism directed at Armenia, claiming it is a monoethnic country. It is difficult to understand what kind of accusation this is. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made this statement during the Armenian Forum on Democracy.
He noted with pleasure that national minorities are represented in parliament, emphasizing that this is a very important institutional feature.
"I am also very happy that there are not only Christian churches in Armenia but also Muslim mosques and temples of the Yezidi faith. This is extremely important," Pashinyan highlighted.
As the Prime Minister pointed out, Armenia has both an Armenian Catholic community and Evangelical and Armenian Apostolic churches. "I do not think that any community today can claim that its religious freedoms are being violated," Pashinyan stated.
