2021 Elections of "Hammer and Sickle" Reflected Complex Political Situation: Pashinyan
I unequivocally agree with the formulation that free elections are not sufficient for democracy. This was stated today, May 31, by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at the Armenian Democracy Forum taking place in Yerevan.
“It is very important that democracy and free elections lead to the establishment of democratic institutions. Without this, it is impossible to institutionalize democracy. In this sense, we have significant challenges regarding the independence of the judicial power, and I consider the formation of a democratic political culture to be very crucial,” he noted.
Pashinyan recalled the campaign for the extraordinary parliamentary elections in 2021, characterized by the use of the "hammer and sickle," stating that it was a reflection of a complex political situation.
