Russian Defense Ministry to Focus on Joint Exercises with CSTO Peacekeepers, Shoigu Says
During the summer exercises of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, significant attention will be paid to joint maneuvers with the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) peacekeeping forces. This was announced today by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu during a conference.
“Starting from June 1, the summer training period will commence in the armed forces. Great attention will be given to joint exercises with CSTO peacekeeping forces within the framework of the ‘SMOA Plus’ (consultation of defense ministers from ASEAN member states and dialogue partners) for joint anti-terrorism maneuvers,” he stated.
According to the Russian Defense Minister, the implementation of these planned activities will ensure the necessary level of readiness for the army and navy, protect national interests, and allow for effective responses to changes in the military-political situation.
