Drone Attacks in the Moscow Region: What We Know

This morning, drone strikes were launched towards residential buildings in the Moscow region. RTVI reports that the air defense system is active in the Moscow region. Specifically, a drone reportedly crashed into the 25th floor of a residential building on Atlasnaya Street in the Novomoskovsky District, according to SHOT, referencing its source.

According to a Telegram channel, the explosion damaged the floor tile, but there were no casualties or injuries. A second drone struck a high-rise building on Profsoyuznaya Street in Moscow, crashing into the windows of a 16th-floor apartment. No injuries were reported, and the entire entrance was evacuated.

The source from the Telegram channel stated that the second drone carried a KZ-6 cumulative charge, which, fortunately, did not detonate. SHOT explains that such a charge can penetrate reinforced concrete slabs up to half a meter thick.

Another drone had earlier struck one of the buildings on Leninsky Prospekt, 112 reports. Baza has reported on the functionality of air defense in the Moscow region, claiming that several drones were shot down over Istra. Eyewitnesses described hearing explosions in the Nemchinovka, Odintsovo, and Barvikha districts.

Residents along the Rublevo-Uspenskoye highway reported seeing flying drones. According to preliminary data from Baza, a drone flying toward Moscow over Novaya Riga has already been shot down.

As reported by SHOT, citing its source, four drones were shot down while approaching Moscow from the southwest. TASS reported that Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin noted that several buildings in Moscow sustained minor damage due to the drone attack, but no one sustained serious injuries.
