Criminal Proceedings Initiated in Case of 18-Year-Old's Murder; One Person Arrested

On May 29, 2023, at 23:30, H.M. approached the Malatia Police Department of the Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Yerevan and reported that around 23:20, he had fired 7 shots from a "Makarov" type pistol near house number 40 on Admiral Isakov Avenue, killing D. Tamaryan.

The Investigative Committee reports that on the same day, a call was received at the Malatia Police Department from the ambulance service, indicating that around 23:30, an ambulance crew had responded to a call at 42/2 Admiral Isakov Avenue, near the "Neptune" sports complex, where they discovered the body of a man with gunshot wounds. It was determined that the deceased was 18-year-old D. Tamaryan.

At 23:40 on May 29, 2023, based on reasonable suspicion, H.M. was arrested by officers from the Malatia Police Department, and during a personal search, a "Makarov" type pistol was found in his possession.

An investigation has been initiated under Part 1 of Article 155 and Part 1 of Article 335 of the Armenian Criminal Code at the Malatia-Sebastia investigative division of the Investigative Committee. A investigative team has been established. During the examination of the crime scene, 9mm caliber cartridges were found, video recordings from surveillance cameras were confiscated, and examinations were conducted. Judicial medical and forensic examinations have been ordered. The preliminary investigation is ongoing. Necessary measures are being taken to fully clarify all circumstances of the crime, including the motive.
