Vahagn Khachaturyan Expresses Full Support for Nikol Pashinyan and the Government

What the government is pursuing today, specifically the steps being taken both domestically and in the realm of foreign policy, is aimed at establishing peace. This was stated today by Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan during a meeting with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, emphasizing that he supports Pashinyan and the government.

This information was reported by the Prime Minister's press service.

Khachaturyan highlighted the importance of the outcomes from the Brussels meeting, particularly that Pashinyan clearly expressed the position of the Government of the Republic of Armenia, according to which Armenia recognizes Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and expects the same from Azerbaijan.

“I believe this was a very important statement and also proof that we are not merely speaking about peace but are committed to establishing lasting peace in the region. I think our neighbor should also recognize and appreciate the steps you and the government are taking,” Khachaturyan stated.

Khachaturyan also shared his visit to Qatar, expressing happiness that Armenia is recognized there as a full partner that fulfills its commitments and obligations and is a reliable partner in terms of financial stability and fulfilling obligations.

In turn, the Prime Minister underscored the significance of regular meetings with the President for building public trust in the government.

“In this regard, I can attest that there is truly a very constructive collaboration established between the President, the Parliament, and the Government, which is particularly important during this period. I also consider it important that the government's policies are somewhat discussed and consulted with the Parliament and the President of the Republic, but of course, this does not imply any evasion of responsibility; the government fully assumes and must assume that responsibility. However, knowing the opinions of the key institutions of the state on these issues is extremely significant,” Pashinyan emphasized.

He noted, however, that the statements from Azerbaijan following the Brussels agreements raise at least some questions, and it is essential to clearly find an answer to the question of whether these statements indicate a rejection of the reached agreements.
