In Light of Events in Kosovo, Serbian President to Deliver Urgent Address
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić will deliver an urgent address to the citizens of the country on Monday evening. This was stated in a press release from the head of state.
More than 50 people have been reported injured during the clashes in northern Kosovo. The media reports explosions in front of the municipal building in the town of Zvečan, with vehicles set on fire.
Serbs have sat in peaceful protest in front of the security forces. However, KFOR personnel have begun to use tear gas.
It is worth noting that on the morning of May 26, Kosovo's security forces entered the municipal administration buildings of four municipalities and attempted to seize them. Due to the escalation of the situation in Kosovo, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has put the Serbian army on high alert.
On May 28, Serbian Defense Minister Miloš Vučević announced that tensions in Kosovo have reached a peak and could escalate into armed conflict.
Today, it was also reported that NATO forces have blocked entrances to the municipal buildings in the northern region of Kosovo and Metohija. Several hundred people have gathered near the buildings of local self-government bodies in the northern province, demanding the removal of the Kosovo police and the recall of the newly elected Albanian mayors.
