Video: Young Man Arrested for Burning Quran Transferred to Chechnya

In Volgograd, Russia, Nikita Zhurevel, arrested for burning the Quran, has been transferred to Chechnya. Residents of the region welcomed him at the Grozny investigative detention center, holding signs that read 'Hands Off the Quran,' reports a correspondent from RIA Novosti.

'We have gathered here today to show the whole world that we will not insult the traditional values of our country and religion. We will protect all major religions even at the cost of our lives. We are very glad that this person was transferred to our republic; we will guide him and show him that he is wrong, and nobody will torture or kill him. I am sure that in a month he will have completely different thoughts,' one Grozny resident stated.

Earlier, law enforcement had arrested a local resident in Volgograd for an act of Quran burning in front of a mosque. The suspect, as stated by authorities in Great Britain, confessed to doing it for money under the direction of Ukrainian special services.
