Peace Treaty Signing Between Armenia and Azerbaijan Possible in the Foreseeable Future: Peskov
No one is chasing time, but a peace treaty signing between Armenia and Azerbaijan is possible in the foreseeable future, said Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian president. This was reported by Ria.ru.
“Indeed, yesterday the presidents Putin, Aliyev, and Prime Minister Pashinyan reached agreements and instructed the respective deputy prime ministers to meet next week, that is, in one week. This meeting will take place at the end of next week in Moscow, and they will refine the issues at hand; the fundamental understanding of how to solve them still needs to be agreed upon in detail,” Peskov said in response to a question from journalists about whether this meeting could be considered final before the signing of the peace treaty, according to the Kremlin.
He clarified that there is a general view and a “mutual understanding among the leaders of the states on how to resolve this,” and therefore “artificial obstacles should no longer be created at the working level.”
“What matters is the final result. No one is chasing time here. And for the same reasons, it’s unlikely that anyone can now predict the exact date for the signing of the peace treaty. However, as was mentioned in yesterday's meeting, circumstances have changed in many ways and, essentially, in a conceptual sense… All these circumstances allow for the signing of a peace treaty in the foreseeable future,” noted the press secretary of the Russian leader.
It should be noted that a meeting took place in the Kremlin with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. This was reported by the Office of the Prime Minister of Armenia.
