An Arkansas man, who was photographed with his feet on the desk of former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi during the January 6, 2021, protests at the U.S. Capitol, has been sentenced to 4.5 years in prison. This information was reported by Fox News.
In January 2023, Barnett was found guilty on all eight counts of the indictment, including charges of disorderly conduct and obstruction of official proceedings.
Federal prosecutors had requested that the judge impose a sentence of more than seven years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, but the court decided to impose a sentence of only 4.5 years.
The riots in Washington, which culminated in the Capitol assault, occurred on January 6, 2021. On that day, the U.S. Congress was set to certify the results of the Electoral College vote, confirming Democrat candidate Joe Biden's victory in the presidential elections.
