House Arrest Imposed on Gyumri City Council Member from the CP

A house arrest has been imposed for two months on Yervand Khanamiryann, a member of the Gyumri City Council from the ruling My Step Alliance (CP), along with a bail of two million drams. This was confirmed in a conversation with NEWS.am by Gor Abrahamyan, the spokesperson for the Investigative Committee.

Khanamiryann is charged under Article 474 of the Criminal Code (Assisting a Person who has Committed a Crime).

According to the Investigative Committee’s statement, a 35-year-old man in Gyumri engaged in an argument with a 50-year-old man over stolen construction materials, during which he hurled sexual insults and inflicted numerous blows to the man’s body with his hands and feet, slapping and spitting in his face.

Following this, according to the Investigative Committee, continuing his inhumane and illegal actions, he pushed the 50-year-old man out of the yard, threw him into a dog’s fenced kennel, commanded the dog to attack him, but upon noticing that the dog did not attack, held a water pipe with cold water on the man for 15-20 minutes. Then, with the intent to unlawfully take the man's life, he fired once in the direction of the man, who was in the dog’s kennel, with a firearm identified as a pistol, which he had illegally obtained.

It is noteworthy that Yervand Khanamiryann is the second member of the Gyumri City Council from the CP to have house arrest imposed on him. Agasi Matevosyan, who is also a relative of Hamazasp Matevosyan, an advisor to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, is charged with robbery.
