Number of labor migrants from Russia to Armenia increased by 272%

The number of labor migrants from Russia to Armenia increased by 272% last year, with a noticeable influx of Russians also observed in Kazakhstan. This was stated to RIA Novosti by Altinai Omurbekova, director of the Department of Labor Migration and Social Protection at the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).

"We only present statistics regarding workers, meaning those people who have left for work purposes. We have data for 2022, which shows an increase in Kazakhstan and Armenia. For example, in the Republic of Armenia, the increase is 272% compared to 2021. In the Republic of Kazakhstan, this increase is about 70%," said Omurbekova.

She noted that such a trend was not observed in Belarus and Kyrgyzstan last year.
