Iranian National Arrested in Georgia for Attempting to Smuggle Heroin through Armenia to Europe

The Georgian police have arrested an Iranian national who attempted to smuggle a large quantity of heroin into Europe via Armenia. This information was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.

Authorities seized 80 kilograms of heroin at the Port of Poti. The drugs were discovered hidden in a compartment of a truck.

The investigation revealed that the accused is a citizen of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who intended to transport the narcotics from Iran to Europe through Armenia and Georgia. He attempted to do this using one of Georgia’s maritime ports, where he was subsequently apprehended.

It has been noted that a criminal case has been initiated under articles which provide for up to 20 years of imprisonment.
