Serj Sargsyan: Demanding a Response from Me is Simply Incomprehensible, If Not Offensive
Former President of Armenia, Serj Sargsyan, has responded to the statement issued by the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh, which called on former presidents of Armenia and Artsakh to condemn Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's assertion recognizing Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan.
“It is simply incomprehensible, if not offensive, to demand a response from me after the capitulator occupying the chair of the Prime Minister of Armenia made his direct and blatant statement today recognizing Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan. I have consistently stated, including in the past five years, at every possible occasion that Artsakh will not be part of Azerbaijan. My political force, the Republican Party of Armenia, has continuously emphasized and declared our principled positions on the issue of Artsakh in all our statements, speeches, and messages, outlining our positions on this vital issue and the destructive actions of the Armenian government. These positions are not subject to change.
We have voiced our concerns, fought, and continue to fight, no matter how much we have been slandered, discredited, and targeted, without regard to our warnings and alerts. If some are suddenly caught off guard by an 'unexpected situation' and demand a new statement from me, this is at least puzzling.
I have undoubtedly been and will continue to be alongside my brothers and sisters in Artsakh, faithful to my oath taken before the graves of my comrades in arms—to not leave unfinished the task we started together. Dear sisters and brothers, today, more than ever, actions, deeds, and unity are important, regardless of the various disagreements and ambitions that mean nothing next to the calamity hanging over our people. I consider and will continue to consider the issue of Artsakh, as well as the task of building the state of Armenia, my life's mission,” the statement said.
