Artsakh National Assembly Issues Statement in Response to Nikol Pashinyan's Recent Remarks
The Artsakh National Assembly adopted a statement with 30 votes in favor and 0 against, calling on former and current presidents of Artsakh and Armenia to condemn the statements made by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and support the people of Artsakh.
“The statement made today by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a press conference, where he reaffirmed his willingness to include Artsakh in Azerbaijan, has caused deep outrage and anger in the Republic of Artsakh. By this commitment, Nikol Pashinyan is grossly violating the provisions regarding Artsakh contained in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia, particularly the imperative principle of the decision made by the Supreme Council of Armenia on July 8, 1992, which states that ‘Any international or domestic document stating that the Republic of Mountainous Karabakh is part of Azerbaijan is unacceptable for the Republic of Armenia.’
Once again, we reaffirm that the status of Artsakh has already been determined by the public expression of will on December 10, 1991, and no authority is entitled to challenge it.
We find any statement made by Nikol Pashinyan that disregards the sovereignty of the Republic of Artsakh, the right of our people to self-determination, and the exercise of that right, unacceptable and meaningless. Artsakh will never abandon its unwavering path of struggle.
Deeply concerned about the existing dangerous reality, the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh calls on the entire Armenian community to prevent the disastrous steps aimed at conceding parts of our homeland— the Republic of Artsakh and the sovereign territories of Armenia— to Azerbaijan under the guise of enclaves, which will inevitably lead to the loss of Armenian statehood.
At the same time, we appeal to former and current presidents of both the Republic of Armenia and Artsakh, calling on them to condemn Nikol Pashinyan’s statements made on May 22, 2023. Otherwise, your silence will be regarded as a sign of agreement with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia,” the statement from the Artsakh National Assembly reads.
It is worth noting that today, at 23:00, an extraordinary session of the National Assembly of Artsakh has been convened at the initiative of the deputies to address urgent issues.
