Journalist Jean Carroll Sues Donald Trump Again, Demanding $10 Million

Writer and journalist Elizabeth Jean Carroll has once again filed a lawsuit against former U.S. President Donald Trump, this time demanding at least $10 million in damages. According to lawyers, the politician has "doubled down" on his disparaging remarks about the journalist, as reported by the Associated Press.

The lawsuit was filed in Manhattan court. "It is difficult to imagine a defamatory behavior driven more by hatred, malice, and spite," the lawyers stated.

The attorneys contend that the new trial is necessary to prevent Trump from further "defamation." On May 10, a federal court in Manhattan found the former president guilty of sexual assault and defamation against Jean Carroll. The court ordered the journalist to pay $2 million as part of a settlement, along with more than $3 million in damages for defamation and harm to her reputation.

The case notes that the incident for which Trump is accused occurred in the spring of 1996 in a Bergdorf Goodman department store fitting room. The journalist has stated that Trump raped her, and when she wrote about it, the former president lied, claiming it did not happen.
