Peskov Comments on the Situation in Belgorod Region

The press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, announced that the FSB (Federal Security Service) and the border service have informed Vladimir Putin about the situation in the Belgorod region, where clashes are taking place with a reconnaissance and sabotage group of the Ukrainian armed forces, TASS reports.

"The Ministry of Defense, the FSB, and the Border Service have reported to the President of the Russian Federation, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, about the attempted incursion by the Ukrainian sabotage group into the Belgorod region. Efforts are underway to push them out of Russian territory and to eliminate this sabotage group. There are sufficient forces and resources on-site," Peskov said.

He also added that the purpose of the diversion in the Belgorod region is to distract attention from Bakhmut. Earlier, it was reported that a reconnaissance and sabotage group of the Ukrainian Armed Forces had entered the Belgorod region.
