Zelensky's Important Request to Biden Revealed
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has requested his American counterpart Joe Biden to provide security guarantees for the country before joining NATO, according to a statement from the Ukrainian leader's press service.
“Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the issue of Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic integration and preparations for the NATO summit in Vilnius individually. The head of state emphasized the importance of obtaining security guarantees for Ukraine before our country joins the alliance,” the publication states.
The Ukrainian president made his request during a G7 meeting taking place in Hiroshima, Japan. U.S. President Joe Biden also stated that F-16s would not help in Bakhmut. The American leader noted that he does not anticipate the use of F-16s during Kyiv's upcoming counteroffensive. He also claims to have received guarantees from Zelensky that Kyiv would not use the F-16s to attack Russian territory.
Additionally, the White House recently announced that the U.S. has not yet made a final decision on whether to transfer its F-16s to Ukraine or if that will be done by EU countries.
