Haik Martirosyan Among Leaders in Sharjah Chess Masters
Grandmaster Haik Martirosyan is among the leaders in the ongoing 6th Sharjah Masters 2023 international chess tournament in the UAE. Martirosyan has scored three points out of a possible four, achieving two victories and drawing two games. The Armenian chess player shares the 1st to 8th positions.
In the 5th round, Haik will compete against women's world champion Zhu Wenjun.
As for the other Armenian chess representatives in Sharjah, Shant Sargsyan holds 2.5 points out of 4, Manuel Petrosyan has 2, and Samvel Ter-Sahakyan has 1.5 points.
International Master Emin Ohanian, competing in the Challengers Section (players rated 2000-2499), shares second place with 3.5 points out of 4. Mariam Mkrtchyan has 2.5 points to her name.
The tournament is divided into three sections: Masters Section (for players rated above 2500), Challengers Section (for players rated 2000-2499), and Futures Section (for players rated 1500-1999).
