Biden Threatens China

U.S. President Joe Biden announced at the G7 summit in Hiroshima that the United States will continue to place Taiwan "in a position where it can defend itself," according to BBC reports.

He stated that there is a "clear understanding" among the U.S. and its allies that if China acts unilaterally regarding Taiwan, "there will be a response." At the same time, Biden expressed that he does not believe that there is anything "inevitable" about the assumption that conflict will arise.

Earlier, China sharply criticized the statements made by G7 countries, which also pertained to the situation surrounding Taiwan. China’s Foreign Ministry emphasized that the resolution of the Taiwan issue is a matter for the Chinese people and must be resolved by them.

"The G7 continues to talk about maintaining peace across the Taiwan Strait but never mentions its disagreement with 'Taiwan independence.' No one should underestimate the strong determination, will, and ability of the Chinese people to defend their national sovereignty and territorial integrity," the Chinese Foreign Ministry stated.
