Some Arab Leaders 'Close Their Eyes' to Russia's Invasion of Ukraine: Zelensky
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused some Arab leaders of 'closing their eyes' to Russia's invasion during the Arab League summit in Saudi Arabia on Friday, as reported by BBC.
“Certain countries need to reconsider their ties with Russia. Unfortunately, there are people in the world and among you who are turning a blind eye to these war crimes and illegal annexations. I am here so that everyone can look honestly at this. No matter how much the Russians try to exert influence, we must maintain our independence,” he stated.
Zelensky also told the leaders gathered in Jeddah that his country is defending itself against “colonizers and imperialists.” Earlier, Zelensky announced his arrival in Saudi Arabia for the Arab League summit. Al-Arabiya TV reported that the Ukrainian president arrived in Jeddah on a French plane that departed from Poland. According to Zelensky, the Ukrainian delegation includes Mustafa Dzhemilev, the leader of the Crimean Tatars.
