Araik Harutyunyan Decides: A Referendum Will Be Held in Artsakh

The internal political situation in Artsakh has escalated. On one hand, opposition forces have become active, represented by Samvel Babayan and Ruben Vardanyan. According to "Hraparak," Babayan is demanding to be appointed as Prime Minister. On the other hand, within the government, there is unrest in the parliament and the administration. The Speaker of the Artsakh National Assembly has recently called for Araik Harutyunyan to either resign and call for new elections or hold a confidence referendum in the country.

It is worth noting that a few days ago, the President of Artsakh announced the start of political consultations and the formation of a new body that would include representatives of the opposition forces, including Samvel Babayan and Ruben Vardanyan. However, the consultations have not been fruitful, and the political forces have been unable to sit down at one table, resulting in a lack of agreement between the current authorities, parliamentary, and non-parliamentary opposition.

The newspaper has learned that Araik Harutyunyan has made a decision, opting to proceed with the proposal for a confidence referendum. In the next month or two, the referendum will be organized, and the people of Artsakh will respond to one question: do they trust the President of Artsakh or not? This referendum will aim to resolve the internal political crisis, either way.
