US Supports Direct Dialogue Between Armenia and Azerbaijan Regardless of Negotiation Venue, Patel
The United States supports direct dialogue between Armenia and Azerbaijan, regardless of the platform on which the negotiations take place, said Vedant Patel, deputy spokesperson for the State Department, in a press briefing.
"Direct negotiations between the parties are fundamentally important, no matter where they occur—whether in Arlington, Brussels, or Moscow," Patel stated while commenting on the meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Moscow on May 25.
Today, the Prime Minister of Armenia announced that before the upcoming meeting scheduled for June 1 in Chișinău with the participation of the leaders of France and Germany, another round of talks is planned in Moscow with President Putin's mediation.
Prior to the trilateral meeting in Moscow set for May 25, foreign ministers from Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Russia will hold talks tomorrow in the Russian capital.
