First Direct Flight from Moscow to Tbilisi in Four Years

The Russian airline Azimuth has launched its first direct flight from Moscow to Tbilisi from Vnukovo Airport. This marks the first direct flight between Russia and Georgia in the last four years, according to kommersant.ru.

Information posted on the airport's website indicates that the flight took off slightly delayed. According to the schedule, the aircraft was supposed to depart from Moscow at 8:50 AM, but the actual departure occurred at 9:07 AM. It is expected that the aircraft will arrive at Tbilisi International Airport at 1:38 PM local time.

It is noteworthy that on May 10, Russian President Vladimir Putin lifted the ban on flights from Russian airlines to Georgia. From May 15, the visa regime for Georgian citizens has also been canceled. So far, only Azimuth has received the right to fly to Georgia from Russian airlines. At least four Russian airlines have requested permission from Georgian authorities for flights to Tbilisi, Batumi, and Kutaisi.
