Civil Contract Member Arthur Hovhannisyan Received State Funds as Rent Compensation
The newspaper "Zhamanak" reports: "Arthur Hovhannisyan, the secretary of the 'Civil Contract' faction in the National Assembly, received state funds in 2021 as compensation for his housing rent, despite being born and living in Yerevan according to his official biography. According to information from the newspaper, Hovhannisyan submitted a request to the leadership of the National Assembly for rental compensation, stating that he resides on Nar-Dos Street and rents his apartment for 110,000 drams per month.
In accordance with Armenian legislation, if a parliament member is from the provinces, they may apply to the leadership of the parliament to receive rent compensation for living in Yerevan; however, Hovhannisyan, as mentioned, has received 110,000 drams per month as rent allowance while being a Yerevan resident.
The newspaper approached the press service of the National Assembly to find out who had applied for rental compensation among parliament members over the past two years. However, the press service created artificial barriers and refused to provide this information. Previously, before Nikol Pashinyan came to power, this information was never kept secret by any convocation of parliament.
We have evidence that Hovhannisyan, who is registered at the address of his opposition uncle, Ruben Hovhannisyan, has received rent compensation from the state budget, while he speaks from the podium about the unacceptability of corruption. What else is this case, if not corruption and abuse of official position? Is corruption not a large beast with a pose?
